NRM plots to win back Buganda support ahead of 2026 polls

The NRM Secretariat led by the secretary general Richard Twodong have launched a committee led by the office of the vice chairman central region to run and facilitate the Kisoboka agricultural expos 2024 a political skill aimed at NRM winning back the subregion of Buganda.

The campaign is meant to embark on a journey of NRM gaining more support in Buganda following a recorded decline of support in Buganda in the 2021 general elections.

"We did well in other regions, its only in Buganda where we underscored, we want Buganda back. This will be done through the kisoboka agricultural expos which will traverse in Buganda with president Museveni gracing them, the NRM vice chairperson for Buganda, Godfrey Kiwanda said.

The Kisoboka campaign and agricultural expo will up to May 21 be  in Greater Mukono covering Buvuma, Buikwe, Kayunga and Mukono districts.

From 24 to 28, the expo will be in greater Luwero covering districts like Nakasongola, Nakaseke and Luwero.

Among other districts the campaign is to run are Masaka, Mpigi ,Luwero and Wakiso.

"In this project we are targeting 20 youths in ever village and we are to give them free coffee seedlings," Kiwanda said.

In this program, the regional team led by the vice chairman central region and NRM secretariat shall do farm visits to selected farmers in every district.

This shall be followed by a political meeting of the top political leadership.

The expos shall bring together farmers both the animal keepers and crop husbandry, the manufacturers of Agro inputs, the importers farmer groups among others.

"We want to address  production, productivity and profitability.’

According to the NRM deputy secretary general Rose Mary Namayanja the campaign will help to eradicate poverty in the central region.

’"Given the fact that we are to move district per district it will help us to know what exactly affects our people."
